This session sets the foundation by exploring the why behind Expanded Learning programs. Participants will delve into the core mission and purpose of Expanded Learning programs, focusing on how to address student needs, close achievement gaps, and support overall development. Discussions will cover the impact of expanded learning time on academic and social-emotional outcomes, as well as the role of leadership in aligning programs with funding and program requirements, school goals and community goals.

Participants will explore best practices for supporting staff development in the areas of compliance, competency, and capacity building.  Attendees will understand how to design professional development plans that align with program goals and staff needs and be encouraged to develop a schedule of professional learning opportunities to ensure ongoing professional development for all staff.
